1. PURPOSE OF THIS POLICY

This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) sets the rules and boundaries for how you may use Lebzology’s technology, network, and digital resources. It protects both Lebzology and our customers while ensuring compliance with South African electronic communications laws and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
By using our services, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violation may result in suspension or termination of your service.

2. SCOPE
This policy applies to:
All Lebzology customers (residential and business)
Any device connected to our network
All services, including fibre, LTE, VoIP, hosting, and email
Authorised and authorised users of your account

3. ACCEPTABLE USE GUIDELINES
You agree to use our services responsibly and only for lawful purposes.
Permitted Activities
✅ Web browsing, email, and general internet usage
✅ Streaming video and music (within FUP limits)
✅ Video conferencing and VoIP calls
✅ Online gaming
✅ Cloud backups and file sharing (non-infringing content)
✅ Operating a lawful business website (on appropriate hosting plans)
✅ Remote work and VPN access

4. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES
The following activities are strictly prohibited :
4.1 Unlawful Use
Using our services for any illegal purpose under South African law
Hosting, possessing, or distributing child pornography
Violating any intellectual property rights (copyright, trademarks)
Engaging in fraud, pyramid schemes, or phishing
4.2 Network Security Threats
Attempting to gain unauthorised access to our network or any third-party network (“cracking” or “hacking”)
Forging TCP-IP packet headers (“spoofing”)
Launching denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks
Port scanning or network probing without authorisation
Distributing viruses, Trojan horses, worms, ransomware, or other malicious software
4.3 Spam & Unsolicited Communications
Sending unsolicited bulk email or SMS (“spam”)
Operating unconfirmed mailing lists
Using our service to collect responses from spam sent via other networks
Harvesting email addresses or personal information without consent
4.4 Network Abuse
Excessive bandwidth usage that degrades network performance for other customers (refer to Fair Usage Policy)
Running automated bots or scripts that generate abnormal traffic
Operating an open mail relay or open proxy
Reselling or sharing your connection outside your registered address
Using our residential services for commercial purposes without authorisation
4.5 Prohibited Content
Hosting or distributing content that is defamatory, abusive, or threatening
Hate speech or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation
Harassment, stalking, or intimidation of others
Content that incites violence or illegal activity
4.6 Mail Server Security
You are responsible for securing your mail server against public relay. Lebzology reserves the right to examine your mail server for compliance with this policy .

5. SPECIFIC SERVICE RULES
5.1 VoIP Services
Emergency calls (SAPS, ambulance) may not function during power or internet outages
Call recording requires consent of all parties (POPIA compliance)
Automated or robo-dialling without consent is prohibited
Fair usage limits apply to “unlimited” voice plans
5.2 Web Hosting
You are responsible for backing up your own website data
Hosting of illegal or infringing content is prohibited
Resource usage must remain within your plan limits
Adult content may be restricted (contact us for details)
5.3 Email Hosting
Sending bulk email from standard hosting accounts is prohibited (use dedicated services like Mailchimp)
Mailbox storage limits apply
Spam filtering is provided but not 100% effective

6. FAIR USAGE POLICY (FUP)
All “Uncapped” services are subject to our Fair Usage Policy. Key points :

LTE 20Mbps Uncapped	100GB	Reduced to 4Mbps
LTE 50Mbps Uncapped	150GB	Reduced to 4Mbps
LTE 100Mbps Uncapped	500GB	Reduced to 10Mbps
Wireless Plus Uncapped	1,000GB (1TB)	Reduced to 10Mbps

Data used between 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM does not count toward your threshold
You will receive SMS notifications at 80% and 100% of your threshold
Full speed resets on the 1st of each month

7. MONITORING AND PRIVACY
Lebzology reserves the right to monitor our network for:
Security threats and intrusion attempts
Network performance and capacity planning
Compliance with this AUP
We will not monitor the content of your communications unless:
Required by law (e.g., RICA, court order)
Necessary to investigate suspected violations of this AUP
Required to protect our network from harm 

8. CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLATION
Violation of this AUP may result in :

Written warning and notice to cease
Repeat minor violation
Temporary service suspension (24-72 hours)
Serious violation
Immediate service suspension pending investigation
Severe or repeated violation
Permanent termination of services without refund
Illegal activity
Report to law enforcement + termination
We reserve the right to determine, in our sole discretion, what constitutes a violation of this AUP.

Evidence (e.g., email headers, screenshots, logs)
Date and time of the incident
Reports will be investigated within 48 hours. We will respond to confirmed violations as described above.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this AUP from time to time. Changes will be communicated via:
Email notice to active customers
Posting on our website (effective date will be updated)
Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
